Item Details
An oil portrait on canvas of a gentleman. This bust portrait features a three-quarter view of a mustached gentleman wearing a homburg hat and a white-collared shirt with a tie and a jacket. No signature was found on the work. Pieces of tape adhered to the verso with handwritten information read ‘Woodstock, NY’ and ‘Watkin Golby’. The work is presented in a lemon-gilt carved wood frame.
Condition
- painting has been cut and relined on canvas; craquelure throughout painting; canvas is rippling near edges; wear in frame includes small chips, scratches, stains, and discoloration throughout; areas of red bole revealed throughout frame.
