Chinese Four-Panel Folding Screen

A Chinese wood and gesso screen. This room divider is comprised of four hinged panels, featuring cross-panel illustrations on both sides. One side depicts garden and terrace scenes featuring women in elegant clothing amid weeping willows, lotus leaves in water, and other landscape elements. The verso depicts a crane flying over a songbird amid lotus leaves, flowers, and pods. Both sides have black backgrounds. The screen is not labeled.

Condition
- to fair; some of the hinges are loose; there is a long, deep scratch on one side; minor scratches and scuffs throughout; damage to one of the corners; edges on one panel have significant chips; a couple hinges missing pins.
