A wood engraving on paper of the Harper’s Weekly cover page from September 26, 1874 titled Autumn. The print depicts a portrait of a woman in a large-brimmed hat and scarf tied around her neck. Her hair seems to float in the breeze around her head, and she is holding a bundle of wheat in her arms. The title is printed below the print. Above the image is the Harper’s Weekly header and volume, number, and date information. It is presented behind a mat and glass in a wood and gesso frame with a sawtooth bracket to the verso.

Condition

- one of two sawtooth brackets is missing; dust collection to glass; chipping to gesso on corners and edges of frame; lightly wrinkled print; damage from folding to the center; toning to paper.
