Painted Santos Figure

Item Details

A painted wooden santos figure. This is in the form of a monk dressed in floral pattern robes with gold tone trims and accents and is holding a book. The date ‘1943’ and a possible artisan’s mark ‘Enero’, is present on the sides of the figures base.

Condition

- heavy surface wear and cracking present on the frame; damage to the hands; chipping present on the paint; an opening is present on the underside of the piece; sharp point on top of the book.
