Guanyin Riding a Qilin Porcelain Sculpture

A Chinese porcelain sculpture. This piece depicts Guanyin (Avalokiteshvara), the bodhisattva of compassion, riding a large qilin with blue and gilt scales, while a smaller qilin with red and gilt scales walks beside them. Guanyin is presented in a flowing robe with a pink and blue floral pattern and gilt beaded necklace, holding a vase containing pure water. The sculpture is unmarked.

Condition

- slight paint peeling on smaller qilin; larger qilin’s tail has dried glue residue.
