Antique Russian Brass Samovar

Item Details

A turn of the century Russian brass samovar. The samovar features a barrel-shaped reservoir in polished brass, having turned wood handles and knobs, with an open steam vent to top and decorative brass spigot key. The tin lined samovar rests on a square self footed base and bears markings and medallion stamps from the Russian imperial maker Batesheva, with additional stamped awards and exhibition medals to the front and base. Samovars were first introduced to Russia during the mid-1700s, becoming an important center of cultural life.

Condition

- with mineral deposits to tin lining and dents to exterior. Unknown if all parts are present. Untested.
