Mid to Late 19th Century Walnut Plantation Desk
Item Details
A mid to late 19th century walnut plantation desk. The frame features a scrolled cornice with applied moldings above a pair of blind-paneled doors and a hinged, fall front. The doors and fall front open to a configuration of shelves and pigeonholes and the writing surface is inset with a later, leather panel. Directly below is a rectangular work top over a single, dovetailed drawer with turned knobs. The desk rises on block-and-turned legs ending in tapered, cylindrical feet. The key to the top is present.

Condition
- some minor surface wear and marks; left hinge of fall front will need new screws as it is loose; a couple light cracks near hinges; leather writing surface is not original; drawer missing interior lock mechanism.
