Antique Queen Anne High Chest, Circa Mid to Late 18th Century

An antique Queen Anne high chest, circa mid to late 18th century. The mixed wood case is in two sections. The upper section features a molded cornice above a stack of five dovetailed and graduated long drawers. The lower section has one long drawer over three aligned short drawers, the center of which is carved with a fan. The thumbmolded fronts are fitted with brass, batwing pulls and escutcheons and the high chest rises on cabriole legs ending in pad feet. The front apron is further embellished with three acorn-shaped, drop finials.

Condition

- scattered scratches, scuffs, and chips; top right section of cornice detached but present; heavier scuffs to left side panel of upper section; repairs to drawer fronts and chips/losses to drawer lips; mid-molding near right corner separated with nearby dovetail loose; one escutcheon broken, brasses possibly not original; other scattered repairs and restorations.
