A pair of early-twentieth-century memoirs by women. Twenty Years at Hull-House by Jane Addams, known as ‘the mother of Social Work’, was published by Macmillan in 1910; the travel memoir Italian Backgrounds by novelist Edith Wharton was published by Charles Scribner’s Sons in 1905. Both books are bound in cloth-covered boards with gilt cover text, and Twenty Years at Hull-House has a color pictorial pastedown to the front cover.
