An antique hand-knotted Turkish Sparta wool area rug. The rug features a maroon field with a series of palmettes and arabesque designs in shades of navy, teal, olive, sage, and beige. The main border features a series of palmette and lotus flower designs and thorny vines in shades of maroon, teal, sage, and beige on an indigo ground. It has a triple overcast edge and short, dense wool warp fringe to each end. The rug may have undergone restoration or repair, with securing stitching at the warp ends. Unlabeled.
