A 1944 charcoal drawing on paper by artist Sidney Cannel. The piece depicts a portrait of prominent 20th-century violinist Yehudi Menuhin gazing forward intensely, rendered in a palette of grey against cream. The work is signed and dated by the artist to the center right and autographed in pen by Menuhin to the lower left; the inscription reads ‘To Sidney Cannel, Sincerely, Yehudi Menuhin, Oct. 25, 1944’. The drawing is matted in white and presented under TruVue conservation glass in a slim black wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- some toning to paper; minor wear and scratching to frame; frame joints are not flush to top left; small spots to backing paper.; sticker to top left of frame glass.
