Item Details

A highly ornate lacquerware jewelry box. Comprised of glossy lacquered wood, this box features carved imagery of birds, trees and flowers with gold details and embellished brass accents throughout. the rectangular top opens to a shallow drawer lined in embroidered red silk with a mirror to the reverse of the lid. The front has double doors, with swallows in flight on a golden ground to one side with cherry blossoms on the other, which open to three jewelry drawers in black. Brass plates to the front with basket shaped pulls and brass medallion handles to either side. This box rests upon brass wrapped square feet and is marked to the reverse with a sticker which reads, ‘Made in Macau.’
