An East Asian style ceramic statue of a man holding a snake. This freestanding sculpture depicts a robed man dressed in a decorative headdress and shawl clutching at a single-stringed sanxian, as he triumphantly holds a snake above him with the other hand. He stares up inquisitively at it. The sculpture is presented on a rounded base moulded and painted to resemble a tree stump, with a scraped set of numbers to the underside reading ‘8883, 19’.
