Savonarola Chair With Mother-of-Pearl Inlays

Item Details

A vintage Savonarola chair with mother-of-pearl inlays. This walnut chair features a scalloped and arched crest with shallow inlay medallion, stippling and Indo-Persian script. The crest leads to an openwork panel splat with pierced design, as well as a pair of block arms including teardrop scrolled hand holds. The chair seat and base are comprised of multiple rows of interlocking bands in a scissor frame design with the legs splaying out and ending in scroll end, scalloped panel feet. The chair includes stippling, carvings and inlay floral and diamond patterns throughout.
