Antique Romantic Transfer Printed Ironstone Platter Circa 1845-60

Item Details

An antique English ironstone platter. The platter was produced between 1845-1865 in a romantic pattern. The blue and white pattern includes classical ruins, Asian building and figures. The wavy border is broken by eight shaped reserves with Asian buildings matching those in the background of the main print. The angular shape of the platter suggests a date after 1850. The piece is free of maker’s marks with only an impressed ‘P’ and numeral ‘18’ on the underside.
