An albumen photograph on paper of a painting titled Laughing Cavalier by Frans Hals (1582 – 1666). This black and white photograph depicts the image of the famous Baroque portrait of a wealthy man in an elaborate costume. The piece is unsigned and presented under glass in a wood frame with a wire to the verso ready to hang.

- craquelure present on entire image; toning over the whole image; two tears at lower left and middle right of image; light wear on frame overall, water damage at bottom corner of frame.
