Tintype Portrait With Lace Bonnet
Item Details
A tintype photograph portrait and a handmade bonnet presented together. The bonnet is made with floral embroidery on a gauze base, with tatted lace fringe and gathering at the base of the neck. The side ribbons have scalloped edges, finished with embroidery. The photograph features a portrait of an older woman in a collared dress and wearing a bonnet similar to, if not the same as, the bonnet present in the frame. It is presented in a decorative case with an oval picture window and a flocked opposing side with floral designs. The bonnet and photo case are mounted together on a ground of pink, diamond quilted fabric. The whole thing is presented behind a triple mat and glass in a gold tone frame that is wired for hanging.

- minor wear to case of tintype; slight yellowing to bonnet; several small stains to pink background fabric; a few holes to paper backing.
