A mid-century oil painting on canvas board by an anonymous artist. The Modernist portrait depicts a woman with styled blonde hair and a bright yellow shirt. She is set against a green background and shown gazing forward with a sad expression. The unsigned work is presented without glass in a grey and white wooden frame with two loops for hanging wire affixed to the verso.
Condition
- to Poor; puncture to canvas at center right; heavy wear to painted surface with paint loss and lift present throughout, especially visible to subject’s face and hair and to top left; heavy craquelure to lower right quadrant; multiple scratches and abrasions to canvas and frame; surface wear, nicks and scuffs to frame; some separation to frame joints at corners; hanging wire to verso is broken; no backing paper present; item would benefit from light cleaning.
