Michael Riggs Lithograph After Original Drawing "Ocracoke Lighthouse"

Item Details

By Hand, In Plate

A signed lithograph titled Ocracoke Lighthouse after an original drawing by contemporary American artist Michael Riggs. This lithograph after an original pen and ink sketch, depicts a white lighthouse behind a picket fence. Seagulls dot the sky while a pair of bunnies munch on grass to the lower left. It is signed and dated 1992 in plate to the lower right of the image, titled in pencil to the center margin, and signed in pencil to the lower right. This print is presented behind double mats in a wooden frame with a black distressed finish. It is preserved under acrylic glass and hangs by a bracket to the verso. Information about the artist and his work are attached to the verso. This is a slightly reduced version of the original drawing.

Michael Riggs, a native of the Carolina coastal region, draws inspiration from his environment for the detailed ink drawings he achieves through the use of crosshatching, stippling, and pointillism techniques. These drawings become the basis for his series of lithographs that are signed and titled in pencil by the artist.
