A Chinese carved soapstone figure. The piece depicts a robed fisherman, smiling while holding his day’s catch, rendered in mottled cream and brown soapstone. The figure rests on a carved brown soapstone vase with four felted pads to the underside. The item does not include a maker’s mark.
