A handwoven Andean manta. A manta is a women’s shawl or wrap worn by the indigenous population of the Andean regions of South America sometimes used as rugs or blankets. This wool manta has an overall red tone with stripes of geometric patterning and accent colors of blue, green, yellow, and white. Also featured in the pattern are depictions of animals and people on horseback in a traditional style of imagery. This piece is unmarked and untagged.
