A collection of Avon “1876 Cape Cod” ruby red glass in a classic Roman pattern. The collection includes a dessert bowl, four candlesticks, two salt shakers, a covered butter dish, six dessert plates, a cream pitcher, two small footed bowls, and three decorative soaps. The Avon “1876 Cape Cod” ruby red glass was designed in house and produced by the Wheaton Glass Company for Avon from 1975 running through 1993. The name commemorates the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial and the area where sandwich glass originated. The deep red of the glass takes a high percentage of gold to produce which adds to its value.
