Artist Signed Rookwood Pottery Madonna and Child Plaque

Item Details

A vintage circular ceramic plaque by Rookwood Pottery, depicting Mary holding the infant Jesus, who raises his hand in a sign of blessing. The piece is in ivory white and high gloss finish, with the figures in low relief. An incised “C-Z” signature to the front of the plaque indicates the artist was Clotilde Marie Zanetta (1885-1970). There is a hole in the reverse for hanging from a nail. Marked with the Rookwood mark and the date mark 1958.

Condition

- the underside of the rim has yellowing remnants of adhesive glue, previously used for mounting to a shadowbox.
