This half length portrait depicts an unknown man with a full head of hair, dressed in dark seventh century style armor with gold detailing and a golden cross, draped in a ermine and red velvet mantle. This work is dated and signed illegibly in the lower right and presented unframed, mounted to a wooden stretcher.

- scratch and paint loss present across lower part of man’s neck; minor paint loss along edges; scratch marks present near man’s shoulder; small stain in upper left corner; large varnish spots throughout; scratch and stain present along lower edge; spot of paint loss present to left of man’s face; staples along sides of stretcher are protruding
