A group of six Windsor style bow-back side chairs by David T. Smith & Co. The wooden frames have a distressed, black finish. They feature rounded crests above spindled backs and contoured, plank seats. The chairs rise on splayed, vase-turned legs joined by turned stretchers. The undersides of all six chairs are stenciled ‘David T. Smith / & Co. / Cabinetmakers / & Grainers / Morrow, Ohio’.

The Workshops of David T. Smith, located in Warren County, Ohio, is well-known for crafting heirloom-quality furniture. The workshop is particularly known for their use of “aged” painted finishes, as seen on these chairs.
