A gelatin silver photograph titled St. Mark’s Church, Organist by well-listed artist James Van Der Zee (American, 1886 – 1983), created 1926. This monochromatic photograph depicts the aforementioned musician seated at the organ, both hands firmly pressing down on keys as he looks to the side. He is dressed in a clergy robe surrounded by the wooden seating of the church. To the lower right corner of the composition is an in-plate signature and date. The photograph is presented under plexi-glass beneath a wide mat in a black wooden frame with hanging wire and a handwritten title to the verso.
Condition
- photo is ripped and scratched in the frame; photo slightly warped.
