East Asian Embroidered Figures and Calligraphy on Silk

A set of two mid-century East Asian embroidered works on cream silk. Featured is an embroidery depicting a male figure with a long dark beard, rounded hat and long robes. He is shown looking over his shoulder toward black embroidered calligraphy and a red embroidered seal marking to the right side. Also featured is a similar embroidered piece that depicts a male figure holding a fan standing next to a young boy holding a tall staff. They are shown gazing upward, looking toward embroidered calligraphy with a red embroidered seal to the left side. Each item is matted in beige with a gold tone bevel and presented under glass in a black and gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- toning, discoloration and faint stains to silk and matting; silk is slightly wrinkled and loosely mounted behind matting; wear and scratching to frames; water damage and tears to paper backing of each frame.
