Mid-Century U.S. Naval Officer's Sword

Item Details

A vintage U.S. Navy officer’s sword. The ornate brass hilt of this ceremonial saber features an oak leaf and acorn motif and the letters ‘USN’ on the guard, a U.S. Navy seal on the pommel, and a gold tone tassel. The stainless steel blade features extensive etched decoration including a U.S. Navy shield and the name ‘James Hastings Quinn’ near the base, this being the name of a 1957 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. One side of the ricasso has a brass inset reading ‘Proved’ inside a six-pointed star, and the other is marked ‘Conqueror Trade Mark Stainless N. S. Meyer Inc.’. The sword includes a black leather scabbard with gold tone knot motif hangers, as well as a black leather carrying bag.

Condition

- minor dents and scratches throughout; slight tarnish to brass; wear to leather case; blade is personalized “James Hastings Quinn”.
