Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Zanjan carpet runner. This rectilinear wool rug is rendered in an abrashed palette of light madder red, cream, toffee, and periwinkle. It begins with a stepped diamond medallion grounded in cream and filled with an eight-lobed floret at the center, with small flowers and palmettes around it, elements that are repeated in the spandrels. The medallion rests on a madder red herati field featuring kaleidoscopically arranged stylized vines, palmettes, flowers, and lancet leaves. Framing the field are a narrow floral border over madder red and a barber pole outer guard border. Selvedges are overcast; ends finish with short cotton warp fringe. The rug is labeled ‘Made in Iran’ on the reverse.
