A pair of gouache paintings on paper of Central American style compositions by artist Jorge Prada. These two paintings depict Native iconography and motifs assembled in a patterned banner, one of which is noted as a visualization of the god of war. The stylized figures are rendered in an earthen color scheme. To the lower margins of each composition is an artist signature and date, listed 1980. Both paintings are presented under glass beneath a single-layered mat in a stained wooden frame. To the verso is affixed hanging wire and handwritten information regarding the subject of each painting on tape.
Condition
- glass could be cleaned more thoroughly; foxing throughout paintings; minor chipping to frames.
