A set of two early 20th-century intaglio prints of Dutch landscape scenes. Featured is an engraving on paper by Ludwig Rohbock (1824-1893), created after a drawing by G. Hess. The monochromatic image depicts a cityscape of The Hague, with row houses and trees lining a peaceful canal dotted with swans and small boats. The print includes the artists’ names in plate to the lower margin, as well as multiple spellings of the city’s name to the lower center. Also featured is an etching on paper by Dutch artist Bart Reindersma. The piece depicts a Dutch windmill set against a sparse rural landscape in a palette of black on cream. The print is signed in graphite to the lower left and numbered to the lower right as 7 out of an edition of 100. Each print is matted in brown and presented under glass in a wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- toning and foxing present to both prints; minor wear to frame finish; glass could be cleaned more thoroughly.
