A handbuilt stoneware horse sculpture by Michigan artist Jeri Hollister. The subject matter of a horse is the matrix of Hollister’s ceramic processes. The piece is constructed of slabs and thrown clay sections, finished in black underglaze and washes. Piece is unsigned.

Hollister is a native of Michigan where she received her BA and MFA degrees, then teaching at Eastern Michigan University. Her work is exhibited in the collections of the Midland Center for the Arts, the Paint Creek Center for the Arts, and the Washtenaw Community College Art Collection, as well as featured in a number of private corporate collections including Steelcase, Ford and Dow. Images of her work have been featured in a number of publications, including 500 Animals in Clay, Spirit of Clay by Robert Piepenburg, the Pebble Press Clay Art 2000 Calendar, and Beautiful Things and Object Lessons: Beauty And Meaning In Art.
