A grouping of late eighteenth and early nineteenth century newspapers and documents. Featured is a framed handwritten deed document dated July 4, 1753 from ‘town of Middleborough in the County of Plymouth in New England’. Also featured are newpapers including The London Gazette (January 2 to 5, 1779). This document has a red halfpenny stamp to lower right with ink written wording, ‘The dreaded Stamp Act’. Columbian Centinel dated Wednesday, April 26, 1797, printed in Boston for ‘the Northern States’, The Independent Chronicle: Universal Advertiser dated February 15 to February 19, 1798 and also printed in Boston, The Connecticut Courant dated December 8, 1800 printed at Hartford, Connecticut, and The Port Folio by Oliver Oldschool, printed in Philadelphia, September 12, 1801. Completing the lot is The Evening Post: Semi-Weekly dated June 17, 1870, published in New York, Volume 61, No. 48. The deed is presented under glass in faux burl wood frame with black mat.
