An original oil painting by Gay Badenoch (1920 – 2003) titled Spring Awakening. The abstract painting depicts a spring day in the forest in a palette of green, yellow and grey. Badenoch was born in 1920 in Boston Massachusetts and lived in New York, San Francisco and Michigan with the highlight of her career being a three week painting trip to China in 1983 set up by renowned artist, Richard Yip. Badenoch painted mostly in oils, acrylics, watercolors, and pastels. Her style was mostly impressionistic and abstract. The painting is signed in graphite to the lower right. The work is surrounded in a green metal frame without glass and picture wire is attached to the reverse for hanging.
