Chinoiserie Correspondence Desk and Chair

A Chinoiserie correspondence desk and companion chair. The black lacquered and gold gilt desk is comprised of three drawers across the front with metal pulls, six drawers in the center and two drawers on the end with metal knobs, two curved cabinet doors that open for storage, a protective glass over the writing area, and four tapered legs. The drawer desk features gold low-relief hand painted Asian landscape scenes and foliate detail. Included with the desk is a companion chair with a black lacquer and gold gilt trim, red satin padded seat cushion with tassles, cabriole legs, and H stretchers. Maker is unknown.
