Carl Zimmerman Original Large Watercolor of Horses

An original large watercolor painting on heavyweight watercolor paper by notable Cincinnati artist Carl Zimmerman (1900-1985). The painting depicts a pair of horses, one pale brown and one white, grazing in a wide grassy field filled with bushy trees and rolling hills. The painting is signed in red to the lower left. It is matted in white with several French lines and is presented behind glass in a wooden frame with rustic white and gold tone finishes. A hanging wire is attached to the verso. Zimmerman was a prominent Cincinnati artist, known for his mural and oil paintings, as well as his teaching ability. He studied under Reginald Grooms, John E. Weis and Herman Wessel. Zimmerman taught at the Art Academy, Taft Museum and Cincinnati Art Museum. He was the president and a longtime member of the Cincinnati Art Club.
