A hand-knotted Tabriz wool area rug. This wool rug features a floral starburst medallion on a dense field of vine work with a herati pattern and corner spandrels that repeat the medallion pattern, in a palette of powder blue, indigo blue, cadmium yellow, olive-taupe, cream, and red. The primary border offers pointed stars alternating oblong cartouche patterns that have a Shah Abbasi palmette pattern within, flanked by multiple guard borders. The rug is finished with overcast selvedge edges and a cotton warp fringe at either end. Unlabeled.
