Antique British Militia Fringed Shoulder Epaulet

An antique shoulder epaulet with hanging fringe. This decorative shoulder adornment was commonly worn by military or other services, often to signify rank. This single epaulet features hanging coiled fringe from the raised coiled section at the corner of the shoulder pad. The top of the shoulder pad features an attached floral symbol to specify the ranking of the officer who originally wore it. The underside features a bright red leather and tufted base. It has metal and wire attachments used for hooking onto military uniforms. Marked in gold lettering ‘Price Whittaker & Co. , 6 Suffolk Street, London, S.W.’ on the underside.
