A set of two folk art mixed media works on board by artist Patience Hamilton. Each depicts an undersea view of ocean life, rendered in naive style and bright hues. Featured is a piece with three cut-out metal fish painted yellow, black and red; they are mounted to a wooden board with acrylic painted depictions of blue ocean depths, green undersea vegetation, pink jelly fish and red starfish. Also featured is a similar work with mauve and white fish nailed to a wooden background accented with black and red sea snakes. Each piece is signed in black marker to the verso.
Condition
- wear and abrasions to edges of paintings; minor markings throughout; exposed nails to verso of each; no hanging hardware or frames.
