A mixed media sculpture titled This ear does not hear, In god we go bust by Maryland outsider artist Frank Kowing (American, b. 1944-2016). The piece depicts a bust of a male figure with large ears, pink complexion and holding a plastic funnel in its mouth. The title of the piece is inscribed onto the ears of the figure. While the item is not signed, it comes directly from the artist’s estate. Please note that this item does not come with a certificate of authentication or provenance.

Frank Kowing is an outsider artist based in Maryland with a larger than life reputation, the bulk of his focus being mixed media works, many grand in scale and with three dimensional quality. He has participated in a vast array of group shows and exhibits since his first shows in the 1970s in New York City. His education, after service in Vietnam with the US Army, was extensive and included the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam, Netherlands and several fine art institutions in Pennsylvania.
