A mixed media sculpture titled Smile Part 2 by Frank Kowing (1944-2016), created in February of 2008. Part of the Powerstick series. Depicting a wooden face with found object accents such as a metal birdand electrical cord to create a composition. Written in ink at the top of the piece ‘Smile’. While the item is not signed, it comes directly from the artist’s estate. Please note that this item does not come with a certificate of authentication or provenance. A tagged with the title and date of the work is attached. Presented with a wire on the verso for hanging.

Frank Kowing is an outsider artist based in Maryland with a larger than life reputation, the bulk of his focus being mixed media works, many grand in scale and with three dimensional quality. He has participated in a vast array of group shows and exhibits since his first shows in the 1970s in New York City. His education, after service in Vietnam with the US Army, was extensive and included the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam, Netherlands and several fine art institutions in Pennsylvania.
