A vintage ceramic cookie jar by Shawnee Pottery. This piece is in the form of a young man with black painted hair in a United States Navy sailor uniform. The jar features hand-painted 22K gold detailing to the hat, neck tie, and pants. The hat is marked ‘U.S.N.,’ the right breast is marked ‘GOB,’ and the left breast is marked to the label, which reads ‘Hand Painted, Fired Ceramic Colors, 22 Karat Gold’. This piece dates between the 1930s and 1950s.
