Antique Vulcanite Hair Comb
Item Details
An antique hair comb manufactured by the India Rubber Comb Company. This accessory is composed of Vulcanite, a material made of India rubber and sulfer. Charles Goodyear patented the substance in 1846. This comb bears the incised mark ‘I.R. COMB CO GOODYEAR 1851’ to reverse.
Condition
- light scratches overall.
- top of first few letters in “Goodyear” mark indistinct.
