An original 1978 oil portrait painitng on canvas by renowned Seattle artist Curtis Barnes, titled Self Study. The image depicts a stunning rendering of a black man sporting a full beard and afro, wearing a rumpled crimson linen Thai tunic. His large brown eyes glisten in the warmly illuminated green and yellow space he occupies. Artist signature is signed and dated in paint to the lower left. This work is mounted in a double-paneled wood frame with black and natural finishes, equipped to hang. The verso is marked with a personal inscription by the artist, and also includes a gallery label.

- finish of frame is chipped in a few areas, notably to upper right.
