A Philippine-parol or Christmas lantern. A traditional outdoor Christmas decoration. This collection includes two vintage illuminated lanterns/ornaments in a star shape and a lobed shape. Designed with what is thought to be capiz shells, hand painted in red, yellow, green orange and blue, and soldered with wire. The star lantern shape is thought to be inspired by the star of the nativity, which led the Magi. It is also said to symbolize the triumph of light over darkness, symbolizing hope and goodwill.
