1887 Hand-Colored Fashion Engraving in Carved Tramp Art Frame
Item Details
An original hand-colored engraving from a 1887 edition of American Victorian fashion magazine Peterson’s Magazine, which was published from 1842 – 1898. The print features five woman in ornate outfits; minimal hand-coloring was added at a much later date. The print is matted in off-white paper with several hand-drawn French lines and is presented in a hand-carved Tramp Art wooden frame with gold tone inner trim and a hanging wire.
Condition
- toning to print and matte; crease mark with staining through center; pitting to glass from age; wood stain marks to gold tone liner with tarnish and cracking.
