1872 Hand-Colored Fashion Engraving in Carved Tramp Art Frame
Item Details
An original hand-colored engraving from a 1872 edition of the Victorian fashion magazine Mme. Demorest’s Mirror of Fashions. The print features two women in ornate outfits lounging in an interior space; hand-coloring was added at a much later date. The print is presented behind glass in a hand-carved Tramp Art wooden frame with gold tone inner trim and a hanging wire. A tag with information about the piece is attached to the verso.
Condition
- toning to paper with foxing mark to upper right; tarnish and scratches to gold liner with 0.5" chip to upper left; crack to upper right leaf of frame and chips missing to leaves at upper left and lower right.
