A handmade needlepoint area rug. This long rug features a contemporary Aubusson-style design in a palette of cream, pale gold, forest green, mauve, and red, with blue highlights. Featuring broken borders and three-dimensional shading, the rug depicts a grand window frame, drapery, and balustrade filled with peonies, roses, tulips, roses of sharon, nasturtiums, and other blooms as well as foliage, the roses playfully presented both as vining plants and as live architectural detail. Edges are serged. The rug includes a fabric backing and is unlabeled.
