A French language first edition, first impression hardcover copy of Jules Verne’s Adventures de Trois Russes et de Trois Anglais, or Adventures of Three Russians and Three Englishmen. It tells the story of a joint British-Russian expedition to South Africa which encounters difficulty when the Crimean War breaks out in Europe and the men find themselves on opposing sides with their different nationalities. It is illustrated with steel engravings and has gilded page edges and an embossed, pebbled cloth hardcover in off-black with gilt lettering and a paneled spine. Published 1872 by the Bibliotheque d’Education et de Recreation.
