1916 "Carmen" Signed Limited Edition Illustrated by René Bull

A 1916 hardcover edition of the novella Carmen by Prosper Merimee, later adapted into a popular opera. It is illustrated with sixteen full-page color plates with tissue guards by renowned British illustrator René Bull along with black-and-white accent illustrations. It is bound in a cream-white hardcover with embossed, gilt lettering and designs, and had gilded page edges. Published by Hutchinson & Company. This is a limited edition, numbered 82/100, and signed by the illustrator. See also 17CIN337-233, also illustrated by René Bull. Note that the signature was not professionally authenticated, however since the book is from a stated ‘signed by the artist’ limited edition it can be assumed to be genuine.
